Water: Why It's The Best Natural Weight Loss Plan
"Water:
The Best Natural Weight Loss Plan Yet"
by
Larry Pahl, L.M.T.
Nine
million children in the U.S. are overweight.
Ten million adults are more than 100 pounds overweight.
What does this have to do with water?
Everything!!
We
live in a society that is obsessed with a drink routine that includes
caffeine and fruit juices in the morning, soda in the afternoon and
either soda or alcohol in the evening.
If this sounds like you and you would like to lose weight, the
best place to start could be making water your dominant drink.
By eliminating the four major diuretics, (coffee, tea, soda and
alcohol) you save hundreds of caloric intake per day.
Even more important, because the body stays more hydrated, it
receives less in the way of hunger stimuli.
Excess sugar intake is happening on an epidemic basis.
Unburned sugar, due to lack of exercise, turns to fat.
Water is therefore an invaluable force in the battle to lose
weight and then to maintain that loss.
It's very difficult to drink the recommended eight glasses of
water per day if it is not your dominant drink.
Did
you know?....Blood pressure and blood sugar levels are best controlled
when the body is hydrated on an optimum level....Proper hydration can
help fight chronic pain by raising tryptophan levels--tryptophan
produces serotonin which is effective in fighting pain....Cartilage, the
spongy cushion which prevents a bone on bone condition is 80%
water.
Chronic dehydration can cause a 'chipping away' of the outer
edges of cartilage as it dries out.
Painful arthritis is the end result of substantial cartilage
loss. Long-term use of
aspirin can reverse the process by which cartilage holds onto water,
causing an arthritic condition to worsen over time.
Brain cells are thought to be 85%water....Water can help you
sustain higher energy levels which can assist your exercise
efforts....If you suffer from chronic muscle pain such as fibromyalgia,
proper hydration can be very important as muscle tissue is 70% water.
It's very important to exercise your muscles on a pain-free
basis, then stretch the muscles to assist the circulation process.
Water can be the key that gets you on a better path.
One of the easiest ways to know that your body needs more
water is if you get heartburn, the body requires substantial amounts of
water to properly digest food and avoid 'digestion problems'. Also, if
the digestion system has an inadequate supply of water, it calls upon
the pancreas, its next door neighbor to supplement its water supply.
The problem with this is that the pancreas needs its water
supply to make insulin. Insulin
is necessary to keep blood sugar levels in a normal range, so chronic
dehydration can contribute to the onset of diabetes.
Also noteworthy is the fact that drinks with sugar force the
body to metabolize it. Metabolizing
sugar forces the body to consume essential minerals such as calcium,
potassium, magnesium and zinc making it (sugar) one of the key
contributors of osteoporosis.
The quality of water you drink can make a big difference in
your health and outward appearance. The 1984 issue of Clinical Toxicology of Commercial Products
lists fluoride as more poisonous than lead and just slightly less
poisonous than arsenic.
A disease of brown decaying teeth has been identified as
dental fluorosis. Eliminating
fluoride from your water is advisable.
Fluoride as low as 1 PPM causes breakdown of collagen, the body's
most abundant protein. It
also leads to irregular formation of collagen, which serves as a major
component of skin, ligaments, tendons, muscles, cartilage, bone and
teeth. For more information visit website:

The
bottom line is this--chronic, long term consumption of coffee, tea, soda
and alcohol can be very damaging to your health. Replacing
them with water can give you increased energy, be an invaluable weight
loss aide and help you avoid diseases such as diabetes, osteoporosis,
high blood pressure, cancer and arthritis.
Without proper hydration and regular exercise, it is virtually
impossible to obtain and maintain optimum health on a long term basis.
