"How Fast Are You
Going?"
by Susie and Otto Collins
You're about to discover one simple change you can make to
your life that can help you start creating the life you really want more quickly and more effectively.
The simple change is this-make the decision at least every once in a while to slow down and take life easier rather
than living life in a state of acceleration.
Most of us live our lives constantly doing, achieving, working towards something, listening to high energy music,
watching television shows and movies that are filled with action-packed sequences and drama that keep us from taking
the time to stop and smell the roses.
We've often said that the first step to changing anything in
your life is awareness of how you want your life to be.
In their book "Dragon Spirit: How to Self-Market Your Dream," the authors, Ron Rubin and Stuart Avery Gold, give
an excellent example of the importance of taking the time to slow down.
They own The Republic of Tea company and their dream is not
simply to sell tea but to create a "Tea Revolution" that will help people to have healthier, happier and more
attentive lives.
Here's how they explain their philosophy-
"By taking the time for tea, we create an exquisite encounter for ourselves. Slowing down to take life sip by
sip, rather than gulp by gulp, we perceive a clarity of purpose and an exuberance for the gift of life that we have
been given. By selling tea we are indirectly selling awareness. Of course, the absolute truth is that we are
only the merchants of awareness; it's the tea that sells
the TeaMind and expands your world into a new-lived reality,
if you will only open yourself to the awareness it tries to deliver."
We just love the suggestion to slow down and take life "sip by sip, rather than gulp by gulp."
In our own lives, we find that when we take the time to stop
our busy lives and go within, even if it means taking a walk
or sitting and concentrating on our breath for 15 or 20 minutes, the chatter in our minds slows down and dissipates.
Creative thoughts and solutions to problems begin to bubble
up to the surface. We are able to access what we want for
our lives and to see the blocks. We are able to look at our
lives in a clear way and we create the space for our desire
to happen.
Personal and spiritual growth is the process of removing the
blocks and creating the space to create our lives the way we
want them.
This is just one idea we've found to be very
helpful in moving us
consciously along on our paths and we hope that
this week you
take the time to sip live rather than gulping it.
